God Reveals Himself

Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. (Romans 1:19-21)

Paul wrote to the Romans about the fact that God is not hiding. He has been revealing Himself and making His power evident since the beginning of creation. The truth is that the knowledge of God's existence is imprinted on the hearts of all people, even those who outwardly reject Him. Even devout atheists like Voltaire, who spent his life denying God's existence, acknowledged God on his deathbed, realizing the truth that had always been in his heart.

How does God reveal Himself? He does it in many ways. One of the most notable is through His Creation. Paul wrote, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made.”

The evidence of God's existence is not hidden but is clearly visible in the world around us. From the vastness of the cosmos to the intricate design of life on earth, creation itself testifies to the reality of a Creator. The mathematical precision with which the universe is ordered—the perfect balance of elements like oxygen and carbon dioxide, the complex ecosystems, and the harmonious functioning of the natural world—points unmistakably to an intelligent Designer.

Paul wrote that these examples are so blatantly evident that unbelievers are without excuse. He meant no one can legitimately claim complete ignorance of God's existence. They simply decide they don’t want to live according to God's commands and His Word.

Practical Application

Pay attention to the world around you today—the beauty of nature, the order of the stars, the majesty of a sunrise or sunset. Let these observations lead you to a deeper appreciation of God's power and creativity. Look around you and thank God today.
