God’s Timeline

Writer's picture: Bishop Keith ButlerBishop Keith Butler

Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. (Galatians 3:4-5)

Fullness of time is a very important phrase in God’s Word. In Scripture, we see God operates on His own time clock and there is a season for everything. This phrase is a reminder to believers that we need to trust in God's timing and not try to rush things to accommodate our schedule. In 1 Peter 5:6-7, Peter wrote God will exalt you in due time. Be patient.

We know God has already set up a time for the return of Jesus. Yes, no man knows the day nor the hour, but we can know the season, and we are definitely in that season. But one day with the Lord is as 1000 years and 1000 years is as one day. So, to us, the timing may seem slow.

God sent Jesus to earth at a set time on His timeline. When Jesus came, He redeemed us from sin and death and transformed our relationship with God. Those who receive Christ are no longer simply servants of the Kingdom; they are adopted into the royal family. Now the Holy Spirit dwells within us, and we can cry out to God as "Abba, Father.” Our position as children of God also has to do with the authority we carry as believers. Our adoption granted us an empowerment to bring God’s Kingdom—His way of doing things—into our everyday life situations. We no longer need to beg God for what happens in Heaven to happen in our lives; we have the authority, rights and privileges as part of the royal family of Heaven to declare God's Word and see these things done.

Practical Application

Trust God’s timing and continue to live in your authority until Jesus returns!
