Great Grace

And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common. And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all. (Acts 4:31-33)

It is powerful when believers pray together. In Acts 4:31-33, we see a group of believers in one accord, seeking God’s presence and believing His promises. They praised and prayed in unity, and then, extraordinary things happened. The room shook, the people were filled, and the Word was spoken boldly.

Boldness is a direct result of the Holy Spirit’s empowerment. When we rely on the Holy Spirit, we can do whatever God needs with courage and tenacity.

What task did the Holy Spirit place on their hearts? Giving. The church had a manifestation of generosity that was never seen before. They lived selflessly to give to the church, so everyone’s needs were met.

This willingness to be bold in following the Holy Spirit resulted in supernatural power and great grace. This great grace (mega grace) is a manifestation of the Holy Ghost. Grace is different than mercy. That divine enablement and favor empowered the early church to fulfill its mission.

Practical Application

Does your church have prayer before service or a time of prayer specifically? Make it a priority to join with other believers in prayer. Corporate prayer has power, and God responds mightily when His people pray together in unity.

Acts 1:8; Mark 16:20
