But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them. Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. (Matthew 13:16-18)

Have you ever had a conversation with someone, and you could tell that although they were nodding their head, they weren’t actually listening to a thing you were saying?
There is a significant difference between hearing by allowing the sound waves to go into your eardrums, and listening, which is heeding while you are hearing.
Jesus said that you are blessed if your eyes are truly seeing, and your ears are really hearing. Blessed means happy and fortunate, and enviable. The blessing of God is upon those who are determined to receive fully what God is trying to tell them.
Jesus continued in Matthew 13:16-18, saying that there were prophets and righteous men who desired to be in the position that His followers were in. They desired to see the day the Word of the Lord was so easily accessible. The Old Testament prophets wanted to have a personal relationship with the Messiah, as we have today.
When you come to church, press in to receive the Word that is being declared.
When you read your Bible at home, press in to what the Word of God says. If you have eyes that desire to see God’s Word and ears that are pressing in to hear, you will experience the blessed life flowing through you. Everything you put your hand to will prosper.
Practical Application
- When you are getting ready to go to church or to open your Bible, speak to yourself about your excitement. Express your joy and tell your body and mind, “Ears, we are ready to hear today. Eyes, we are ready to see what God has to show us!”
