Humble Prayer Brings National Healing

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

The promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is not for those who believe in God but for those who choose to identify themselves as God’s people. It is a call to the church, the body of believers, to take action.

In this verse, God tells believers first to humble themselves.  Humility is the foundation of repentance and prayer. It means recognizing our dependence on God and our need for His mercy.

Next, followers of God are instructed to pray and seek His face. Seeking God’s face goes beyond just talking to Him. It means we have a deep, earnest pursuit of His presence and will. Seeking Him means aligning our hearts with God’s heart and desiring His will above our own or other’s preferences.

God's third requirement is that believers turn from their wicked ways. Repentance is not just being sorry about what you have done but also means turning away from your sin and toward God.

When we follow God’s directives, God promises to hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their land. God wants to heal and restore.

The healing of the land is spiritual, physical, financial, and all-encompassing. God wants to bring healing, but He needs His children to be the prayer warriors who bring in the change that He desires.

Practical Application

Pray for your nation today. Tell your angels to go on assignment and bring protection, divine insights, and strength to those who serve it. Pray for healing and restoration.
