Overflow of Blessings

Writer's picture: Bishop Keith ButlerBishop Keith Butler

And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. (Joel 2:24-25)

It’s essential to recognize the abundance God promises when we follow and obey Him. He stated that the floors will be full of wheat. This means not just enough for survival, but so much that the floor is no longer visible. More wheat than you need—an abundant supply!

He said your vats will overflow with wine and oil. Overflow means more than fullness; it represents greater abundance. God doesn’t desire just to bless you; He wants you to live in abundance, touching not only your life but also the lives of others with His blessings. God seeks to bless you financially, and He also desires to restore your time. God promised, “I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten.” The years of loss, hardship, and suffering can be redeemed through His power. Locusts swiftly and completely destroy crops, illustrating how the enemy intends to steal, kill, and destroy everything in your life.

The locust is a swarming insect that consumes everything in its path. Locust attacks signify sudden and overwhelming loss. The cankerworm, a young locust or caterpillar that eats leaves and crops before they can fully grow, represents the enemy’s attempts to steal opportunities before they mature. The caterpillar is a devourer that gradually eats away at plants—symbolizing long-term, gradual loss. The palmerworm is a destructive, migratory caterpillar that travels from place to place, leaving devastation in its wake, representing cycles of instability.

But God is greater than the enemy's destruction. He returns what was stolen and more! God is the God of restoration. No matter what has been lost, stolen, or destroyed, He can restore, redeem, and make it overflow. “I will restore” is God's Word for you. The years taken by hardship, failure, or attacks will be returned with an increase.

Practical Application

If you’ve faced sudden attacks (locusts), lost potential (cankerworms), slow erosion (caterpillars), or instability (palmerworms)—God is breaking that cycle today! Believe, receive, speak it, and act as if it is so.
