The Fullness of God in Jesus

Writer's picture: Bishop Keith ButlerBishop Keith Butler

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power. (Colossians 2:9-10)

In Jesus is the fullness of the power, the personality, and the presence of God. He does not have less power than the Father, nor is He less present than the Holy Spirit. Although it is important to note that the Son is not the Father, as they are different persons entirely, the fullness of God’s ability and authority rests on Jesus.

When you understand the fullness of the power of God that is in Jesus, you can begin to understand who you are and the power available to you in Christ. Paul said we are complete in him. The word complete in the Greek is pleroo, and it means fully furnished. You’ve probably heard of fully furnished apartments or rental properties. Those places have every appliance, piece of furniture or fixture that anyone would need. That’s the idea expressed by this Greek word, pleroo.

In Christ, you lack nothing. You have everything you need to accomplish anything that God asks you to do. Even if the world is against you, the economy and stock market are in a free fall, and governments are going to war with one another, in Christ, you are prosperous and safe. Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world.

Practical Application

All authority in Heaven and earth was given to Jesus and Jesus gave it to us. We are fully able to do any task that God gives us with supernatural power. Don’t allow yourself to be impressed by the enemy or intimidated by problems. You have been fully furnished and empowered to be victorious in everything in life.
