The Great Inheritance

Writer's picture: Bishop Keith ButlerBishop Keith Butler

Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (Ephesians 1:16-18)

An inheritance is something that is distributed to those assigned after someone dies. When Jesus died, He left us an amazing inheritance.

Paul said it is his inheritance in the saints. So, the great inheritance is within you.

This inheritance is not just eternal life after we die, but it is God’s type of life in us right now. Our inheritance in Christ is more than money; it is authority, power, and ability. His inheritance allows the kingdom of God to operate wherever you may find yourself. Even in the middle of the fire or the storm of life, you can display your inheritance powerfully.

It’s good to know what Jesus died to give you, but knowledge of what has been given to you is nothing if you don’t get it and use it. Many Christians are simply wasting their knowledge because they understand theologically what they have been given, but they don’t step out and bravely speak and act according to the Word.

Don’t let your inheritance go to waste! Find daily opportunities to use the power of God to accomplish His will!

Practical Application

God has given you great power and an even greater responsibility to walk in it. Look for opportunities today to step out in faith and act according to God’s Word.

Ephesians 1:11; Ephesians 1:14
