The Mind of Christ

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. (Philippians 2:5-6)

What does it mean to have the mind of Christ? How can we think like He thinks?

Paul gave us a glimpse of how Christ assesses situations and problems. He wrote that Jesus did not think it wrong to stand in a position of authority and power.

You and I are supposed to think the same way that Jesus thinks.

Do you think Jesus was afraid to go to a synagogue because He might get sick? No.

Do you think Jesus was afraid to act on God’s Word because of what people might think of Him? No.

Anytime we allow fear to enter the equation, it is a telltale sign that we have stopped thinking the way Jesus thinks. In fact, Jesus continually said “fear not,” driving home this message time and time again to the disciples. Jesus knew that fear opens to the door to sickness, disease, and anything the enemy desires to bring destruction and death into your life. If you decide to have the same mindset Jesus had and say, "I refuse to fear,” then you will not allow the enemy to direct any aspect of your life.

Sometimes, to remind myself of this truth in my prayers, I say, "in the authority of Jesus" instead of saying “in Jesus’ name.” The phrase “in Jesus’ name” comes from the Greek word onoma, which means authority and character.

Jesus knew He was the Son of God, and that allowed Him to operate at a level of confidence and authority when He spoke and acted. But I have a question to ask you: who are you?

God’s Word says that you are a child of God as well. That means we should operate at the same level of authority and confidence as Jesus did.

Practical Application

Have the mind of Christ as you go about your day today. Stand in the same authority and with the same confidence that Jesus had. Command things to change. Expect the miraculous to happen as you pray and lay hands on others. Think like Jesus thinks.
