The New Heaven and New Earth

Writer's picture: Bishop Keith ButlerBishop Keith Butler

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (Revelation 21:1-3)

Many sense that the earth is aging and wearing out. Those who know the Bible understand it is part of God’s plan. Those who don’t believe God’s Word think they can save the planet by controlling people’s energy usage. However, the Bible tells us that eventually this earth and heaven will be gone and a new one will be created. It’s all a part of God’s plan.

It’s exciting to know that once we reach heaven, our adventures won’t be over, but we will have new assignments as we get to be a part of that grand new creation.

When we see all that God has prepared for us in this world and the one to come, it is easy to see He has never been the enemy. He has always had a plan and a path for us from the very beginning.

The enemy has lied to people by trying to convince them that God is the source of their problems and their struggles. His goal is to deceive everyone into thinking that God is holding them back from something.

That’s exactly what the enemy did to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. He deceived them into believing that God didn’t have their best interests at heart.

Don’t allow yourself to be deceived. God has had a plan for your victory from the very beginning, even to the point of making you an integral part of new heaven and new earth for eternity.

Practical Application – When you feel confused about the future or feel there is no forward direction for you, remember that God has a plan for your life and your future. He has a plan, and you play a part.
