The Path to Life and Blessing

Ye shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God hath commanded you, that ye may live, and that it may be well with you, and that ye may prolong your days in the land which ye shall possess. (Deuteronomy 5:33)

Walking in God’s ways means proactively choosing to center our lives on what the Word says. Moses promised that we may live if we design our lives this way. Following God's guidance in His Word leads to fullness and longevity. God's commands in Scripture are not just rules and regulations but instructions rooted in love that will help you and me experience His blessings.

Moses wrote that living this way leads to physical well-being and spiritual and emotional health. This is what Moses means by his phrase, "It may be well with you.”

This passage highlights the connection between obedience and the quality of our lives. When we choose to walk in God’s ways, we’re not just following a set of rules but engaging in a relationship with Him. We are hearing from His voice and wisdom. We are following the One who knows us more than we know ourselves. It’s like being on a well-marked trail versus wandering through the wilderness. The trail provides direction and safety, while wandering can lead to confusion and danger. God’s commandments serve as that trail, guiding us toward a fulfilling life filled with His blessings.

Our choices have consequences. When we follow God, we walk with the Father of life and blessing. When we choose to go it alone, we invite confusion and frustration into our lives.

Practical Application

God has given every believer a church to be involved in and receive teaching from. When you attend service, take notes. After you attend Sunday’s service, make it a point to review those notes throughout the week. God wants you to learn from His Word and He put you in a Bible-teaching church to instruct you on what to study each week.
