The Power of Faith Words

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (Proverbs 18:21)

What’s the most powerful weapon in the world? Some might say it’s the B52 bomber or the B2 stealth bomber, but the most powerful weapons in the world do not come from the defense industry; they come from God. This weapon is something no other creature has; it’s the weapon of words. God gave us the ability to choose our words and speak them. They can bring either supernatural power and life, or darkness and destruction.

Too often, believers don’t value the power of this weapon, and they’re careless with the words they say. Instead of carefully choosing what they say, they allow anything to flow out of their mouth, with no regard for the destruction they can bring to their lives and those around them.

Words are the most powerful weapon in the world because Jesus gave you His authority, which is released through speaking His Word. Jesus spoke, commanding demons to come out, and they did. He spoke, telling bodies to be healed, and they were. He spoke peace, and storms stopped in their tracks. Notice that Jesus didn’t just think of delivering people from the devil, disease, and death. He spoke it. If Jesus needed to speak for His authority to be used, so must we.

Words that agree with God’s bring freedom and health, but words that don’t yield pain and death. These words include negativity, cursing, gossip, criticism, doubt, and anything else that agrees with the enemy and disagrees with God.

Say what God has said about you and your life, and do it with authority. Don’t just talk positively about things when others are around. Decide what you will say when no one but you and the angels and demons are listening. You have power in your words, so be determined to use them purposefully.

Practical Application

Who do you know that could use a word of encouragement today? Be intentional; maybe you need to write a note or text to let them see what God says about them. Be a conduit of God’s power by using your words with purpose.
