The Robe of Righteousness

And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment. (Matthew 22:11)

A day is approaching when the King will come to see who is prepared for His arrival. Everyone robed in the garment of righteousness in Christ Jesus will be ready for the King’s arrival.

Those who are prepared in the robes of righteousness in Christ Jesus also have their names written in the Book of Life. No other robes or covering will qualify them for entrance into the feast. In other words, no one can earn their way into God’s kingdom through their own effort. Only the robe of righteousness, purchased by the blood of Jesus, qualifies one for entrance into God’s kingdom.

The day is approaching when the King will send those without the proper garment (the robe of righteousness in Christ Jesus) into eternal judgment. Some live as if this day is not soon approaching. They try to convince themselves that they have all the time in the world to make a decision for Jesus.

No one knows when Jesus will return, and no one is guaranteed his next breath. One day, and it may be sooner than you expect, will be the last moment that you breathe air on earth. The next moment, the King will see if your name is written in the book of life.

If you have not chosen Jesus, you have chosen your fate by default and will end up in a place that was never meant for humanity. Hell is a very real place. God did not create it for men; He created it for Satan and all those who followed him in rebellion against God.

However, if people decide to rebel against God’s loving invitation, they follow Satan to where he will be bound and cast forever. God loves you and wants an eternal relationship with you.

Practical Application

Does your life reflect that you have chosen Jesus? Think about your conversations and decisions and consider if you are living an example that others will want to follow.

Revelation 20:10; Isaiah 61:10
